Completion of the 3rd INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF THEATRE ANTHROPOLOGY

The 3rd International Conference of Theatrical Anthropology (March 16, 17 and 18, 2023) was completed in Patras, with the title Odin Theater and Theatrical Anthropology in Greece, organized by the Stage Practice and Discourse Workshop of the Department of Theater Studies of the University of Patras with co-organizers the Center for Theatrical Anthropology (Heraklion, Crete), the Fondazione Barba Varley and the Science Museum and of Technology of the University of Patras, under the auspices and support of the Institute of Denmark, the Region of Western Greece and the Research Committee of the University of Patras. The work took place in the premises of the Museum of Science and Technology of the University of Patras, the Old Slaughterhouses (KEDIP), the Epikentro+ theater and the Dansarte dance school.

Don’t Look (Room K7) A video installation by visual artist Effie Halivopoulou, in collaboration with Tim Ward (sound design), and Nikos Falagas(animation, montage), combined with a performance based on Harold Pinter poem Don’t look, as well as the first scene of his theatre play Mountain Language. The performance was created by students of the Department of Theater Studies (directingteam and group of performers) with the teaching, translation and directing supervision of Despina Georgakopoulou, Theatrologist, MA in Acting, member of the EEP of the Department of Theater Studies of the University of Patras. Effie Halivopoulou, MFA Fine Arts, Pratt Institute, New York, is an Associate Professor and Head of Visual Arts/ Art History Department atthe Frances Rich School of Fine and Performing Arts at Deree The American College of Greece, and artist-in-residence at the Theater Laboratory of Drama and Speech, Department of Theatre Studies, the University of Patras. Tim Ward (PhD) is an Assistant Professor, Department of Music, FRSFPA, Deree-ACG. Nikos Falagas (MA) is an Associate Lecturer, Department of Communication and Cinema Studies, Deree-ACG. Lighting design and technical support coordination Thomas Oikonomakos, ΒΑ Tech Art Design, UAL. Organisation: Katia Savrami, Associate Professor, Director of the Theatre Laboratory of Drama and Speech, Choreographer, Department of Theatrical Studies, University of Patras. Wardrobe granted by the Municipal and Regional Theatre of Patras.
